Many of you have asked why my race is currently listed as a 2028 election on the Supervisor of Elections website. The current District 3 Commissioner, Mayra Uribe, has filed to run for Orange County Mayor in 2026. Under Florida law, she must “resign to run” by roughly the end of May 2026, though she may choose to do so sooner.

If she resigns to run, as I expect, the District 3 seat will move onto the 2026 ballot, which is why I have filed now. If she ultimately decides to remain in her seat, my campaign will pause until the 2028 election cycle.
